A stronger than expected winter storm brought four to five inches of fresh powder to Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) Sunday morning, surprising guests who were ready to take advantage of the first natural snowfall of the winter season. In addition to receiving natural snow, BBMR has been making snow at every opportunity to provide excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. “This first snowstorm of the season is a pleasant surprise, as we got more snow than expected. The natural snow will enable us to get more lifts and runs open in the very near future,” stated Chris Riddle, marketing director for BBMR. “The snowfall also offers a boost to the already excellent coverage and good conditions we have for this time of year, thanks to our remarkable snowmaking capabilities.” At present BBMR has eight lifts operating as needed, including three top-to-bottom runs, offering up to 1,300 vertical feet. And with more than 40 jibs and 30 jumps throughout The Park run and Progression Alley, Bear Mountain has more terrain features set up than any other California winter resort. Also at BBMR, one lift ticket gives you more skiable acres with a free inter-resort express shuttle service to take guests to and from both resorts.
